Methyl anthranilate and furaneol are wine flavors, found particularly in Vitis labrusca and V. rotundifolia grapes and in their wines. These flavors are called "foxy flavor" and its chemical structures and properties have been well studied. However, there are few studies about mammals' reaction to foxy flavor. In this study, we examined domestic cats' reaction to two types of foxy flavor. Our results suggested that two domestic cats didn't show any interest in foxy flavors. Further detailed study would be required to understand reaction to foxy flavor by domestic cats as well as by other mammals.
